Overview

RESTORING HUMAN MOVEMENT

IPS was approached to assist in developing a working prototype of Neuvotion’s muscle stimulation technology. The effort included everything from determining the human factors centered geometry to developing a user experience-optimized application which could drive the wearable device, along with assisting in the selection of contract manufacturers. The result is nothing short of astounding; a beautiful piece of wearable technology that restores motor control to patients without it.

FDA 510K Clearance

IPS led the product development for 510k submission and shepherded it through the review to FDA approval.

Full System Development

IPS is the primary team for development of hardware, firmware and software including ID, material selection and manufacturing process development.

Multidisciplinary Development

IPS multidisciplinary teams worked in tandem to understand requirements, risks and deliver a robust, production ready solution.

Solution

Neustim is a system that delivers transcutaneous muscle stimulation to the lower arm for patients living with paralysis due to spinal cord injury or stroke. The stimulation delivered by the device enables coordinated movements to allow the patient to perform independent tasks that are otherwise unachievable. The device consists of an array of stimulation points that are programmed by a clinical expert to produce the desired motion of the patient. The stimulation patterns are stored in the device specific for each patient. The design approach optimized ease of use for multiple patients across multiple clinical visits.

Impact

IPS was critical partner to Neuvotion for rapid implementation of the product and FDA approval. The product is life changing for patients and their families.
